I’m afraid to write this post because I’m afraid I’m going to jinx us, but Emmett is pretty much sleeping through the night! When he hit three months, it’s been pretty consistent that he will go to bed around 10-10:30 and he’ll usually sleep until 6 or 7! When he does this, it’s pretty great. It’s not every night but I’d say it’s the majority of the time. The key to success for us is to feed him a lot right before bedtime, which results in this:
So it’s Tuesday today, huh? That’s confusing but kind of great! Hope you had a nice long weekend – we definitely did! We had beautiful weather here again in the low 80’s so we spent lots of time outside.
Friday morning started out with a photoshoot for Emmett! A new friend came over to take pictures of our little guy and I can’t wait to show you how they turned out. She is super talented! Friday night we went to dinner and to grab a drink at The Barrel.
On Saturday morning I met some girlfriends and their babies downtown at the Farmers Market. We walked around and then sat under the trees and drank some coffee while the babies stretched out. It was so fun to talk to other new moms and see their little boys! They are both a month older than Emmett – it’s amazing what a difference a month makes! They were both so strong on their tummies. Of course all of us moms were a little camera happy….
Saturday afternoon was spent at our neighbors house for a pool party. We brought fruit pizza and everyone was amazed by it! Must be a Midwestern thing because they had never had one before. One girl was saying how it seemed like a French dessert! Hahaha 🙂
On Sunday we went crabbing for the first time! It was a pretty windy day at the beach so we didn’t get to stay as long as we would have liked but it was still really fun.
Remember “doc rec” stands for documentary recommendation, not doctor recommendation, right? We watched Fed Up about childhood obesity last night on Netflix and in my opinion, it’s a must-watch. It will have you shaking your head in disbelief for so many reasons. K, that’s all for today!
Happy Monday! It’s nice and hot here so I’ve been eating salads like no one’s business. I’m not a huge fan of lettuce-based salads and I usually just pick out the good stuff when I eat them, leaving the lettuce left in the bowl. I love love pasta salads but trying to limit my carb intake so I wanted to find salads that don’t have a pasta base. I’ve already told you about my love of tabbouleh and the kicked-up ramen noodle salad, but here are three more non-pasta salads that I am devouring right now.
We made this when we were on vacation in Florida and I’m dying to make it again. We added fresh mozzarella to ours (the recipe doesn’t call for it) and I think it’s absolutely necessary. Make sure you use fresh corn and fresh basil too.
I think I may have posted on here how I don’t like quinoa. Well, I take it back. Turns out I love quinoa when it’s mixed with delicious ingredients like black beans, cilantro, avocado and mango! We used seasoned black beans (our favorite canned food) and added chopped up fresh mango to our version of this salad and we both loved it. We had our salad for dinner with jerk shrimp. Yum!
Hope you think these are as good as we do!
We aren’t sure how we got here already but Emmett is 3 months old today!
At 3 months he just started sleeping through the night (yay!) and loves to talk and sing. He discovered his hands this month and loves to suck on them. Emmett loves standing up and bouncing his knees and is getting really strong during tummy time. His favorite song (well really mom and dad’s favorite song) is 5 Little Monkeys and we all dance around the living room like fools trying to make Emmett laugh (no full on laughs yet). We are just so in love with this little boy and love being his parents!
Hope all you moms had a great day yesterday! My Mother’s Day actually started last Wednesday! Ryan’s mom was in town this weekend so he wanted to make sure that we were able to do something just the two of us to celebrate. So he enlisted my sister and Kelly to babysit and he surprised me with a night out in Charleston. We grabbed some drinks and headed to dinner at Michaels on the Alley. The food was amazing and it was so fun to be out with my husband at a nice place. It was an awesome surprise!
For Mothers Day yesterday day we all went out to Fat Hen for brunch.
I told Emmett the only things I wanted for Mothers Day was for him to sleep through the night (he slept until 6am!) and for him to laugh (there wasn’t a full-on laugh but we got close!) Really the best present is just to snuggle this sweet little baby.
