Here’s what our dining room looked like when we purchased our house:
This was the view of the dining room that you had while you were standing in the outdated kitchen. See all of those time-warp appliances? They are gone. In fact, our kitchen looks nothing like that anymore, but that’s a post for a different day! In terms of the dining room though, there actually wasn’t a ton we changed (besides taking down that wallpaper and installing new wood floor throughout the entire house). We loved the big window overlooking the pond in the backyard so we wanted to keep that as a focal point in the room. Here’s what our dining room looks like now:
Ryan built a window seat that doubles as storage that we covered with a fun, bright floral print.
I love the window seat but I LOVE the dining room table Ryan built for us!
He used cedar wood (I think) for the table top which he planed, stained and sealed. The base of the table was made using pieces you can buy from a hardware store and the chairs were thrift store finds that we once again spray painted all white.
Our dining room is now a cozy nook of our house that invites you to sit down right when you walk in the front door with lots of room for our growing family and friends!
